The world lost a faithful servant when Evelyn Rinn, of Muncy, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in the Skilled Nursing Unit at Muncy Valley Hospital.

Evelyn was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Bellefonte, Pa. She was the daughter of Carlton and Jeannette (Allison) Greenaway. She spent her early days on the banks of Pine Creek, residing on the Sycamore Dairy Farm. She was active in 4-H activities and fondly reminisced about attending a one room school house.

She graduated from Jersey Shore High School where she specialized in business, later joining the GRIT publishing company in Williamsport where she became secretary to the editor.

Evelyn married Robert Rinn on July 11, 1953. Thereafter, the happy couple moved to Muncy. Her sugar cookies and mints quickly became a favorite treat for many in the area and she delighted in providing these for special events.

Evelyn was a 50-plus year member of The First United Methodist Church in Muncy, where her many activities allowed her to use her special talents in numerous directions: church suppers, weddings and she initiated Lenten breakfasts. She was an active member of The BLT Sunday School Class, UMW, Church Council and the Archives Committee. She served as a District Coordinator of The Neighborhood Center in Harrisburg where she was affectionately known by the staff and youth as "Miss Evelyn."

Her civic involvements included: The Muncy Garden Club, the Beta Sigma Chi Chapter Laureate Epsilon Pi Sorority, Eastern Star, Muncy Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Friends of the Library and Inspector of The First Ward Election Board. She received the Paul Harris Award from the Muncy Rotary Club.

She loved people and enjoyed helping seniors at MVH Skilled Nursing Unit with Bingo. Basketball, baseball, football, in fact, any sport attracted her attention, as did parties and festivals.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; a sister, Sally Simpson of Pompton Plains, N.J.; a daughter, Melanie Martinek of Victor, N.Y.; three grandsons, Michael Rader, Matthew Rader and Andrew Martinek; several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Robin E. Rader.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, where a visitation time will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. Arlene P. Beechert, with the eulogy delivered by Rev. DiAnn Baxley of Lewisburg. A light luncheon will follow the service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Jersey Shore Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Grenoble Funeral Home, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

Flowers will be provided by the family. Memorial contributions can be made to either: First United Methodist Church Youth Program, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, PA 17756 or The Neighborhood Center, 1801 N. Third St., Harrisburg, PA 17102.
