RAY (Lambers/Shelton), Norene H. 88, passed away July 6, 2015 at Trinity Community. Preceded in death by husband Howard A. Ray and brother Arthur Lambers. Survived by daughters, Denise (Jim) Innes of Ft. Lauderdale and Sherry (Ken) Herstine of Dayton, grandchildren Kevin Innes, Lindsay (Tony) Cochran, Kevin (Casi) and Blake Herstine, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Born in Dayton, daughter of Norbert and Irene (Bauman) Lambers. Graduated from Stivers High School as valedictorian of her 1944 class; earned RN diploma at Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing under the WWII Cadet Nurse Corps in 1947; and BSN from University of Dayton in 1950. Norene married Earl E. Shelton August 12, 1950 and Howard A. Ray June 3, 1989. She was Assistant Director of Student Nursing at MVH before interrupting her career to raise her daughters. Norene then spent 8 years as a school nurse for the Dayton Public Schools. She was active in PTA, homeroom mother, Girl Scout cookie mom, and band parent. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church since 1961 where she taught Sunday and Bible School and was active in the circles. She volunteered at Rosewood Arts Center and enjoyed line dancing and traveling. She helped coordinate alumni activities both for her Stivers and MVH classes. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she enjoyed attending their school, sporting and scout events. The family will receive visitors at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 1771 E. Dorothy Lane, Kettering at 5-8 pm Friday, July 17, with a Celebration of Life at the same location on Saturday, July 18 at 10 am. Interment will be at Beaver Cemetery, 1960 Dayton-Xenia Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, www.hospiceofdayton.org, Faith Lutheran Church, 3315 Martel Dr., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
