She was a native of Orlando, Fla., daughter of Peter P. Burkhalter and Ethel Burkhalter Cheatwood and the wife of Winfred "Red" Vassey. She was also preceded by siblings of Carl Burkhalter and Melba Perry.
She was a homemaker and as volunteer at the Senior Center.
