Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Sanborn. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Sanborn Funeral Home.
Donald Ellsworth Gregerson, the son of Martin and Pearle (Butler) Gregerson, was born in Pocahontas County, Iowa, on July 9, 1919. He lived his youth in Britt and Burt, Iowa, and received his education in Burt. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1945 during World War II.
He was united in marriage to Clara Eunice DeVoll and three daughters on Dec. 31, 1951, in South Sioux City. Throughout his lifetime, he had worked for Hanson's Machine Shop in Hartley, Iowa and also at Jehue Motors, Harry's Repair and AMPI, all in Sanborn.
He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. His special interest was doing all kinds of yard work and helping his friends.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Clara of Sanborn; three daughters, Pauline and her husband, Ray Barnes of Denison, Texas, Nancy Silsby of Lamoni, Iowa, and Connie Davis of Colleyville, Texas; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Stanley Gregerson of Cedar Falls, Iowa; three sisters, Luella Bates of Independence, Mo., Velma Henciar of Macomb, Mich., and Lilly Levengood of Kingston, Wash.; other relatives; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marjorie Strayer; and an infant sister, Carol Gregerson.
