Joan E. (Auernheimer) Jacobsen (1953-2015)
Hesston - Joan E. Jacobsen of Newton, passed away at Schowalter Villa in Hesston Sat. July 11, 2015 surrounded by family members. She was born in El Dorado, Kansas on Sept. 29, 1953 to Edgar Willis 'Ed' and Helen Maxine (Taylor) Auernheimer.
Joan had resided at Schowalter Villa the past two years due to health problems and had resided in Newton the previous 23 years and worked in the kitchen at Prairie View for 16 years prior to health issues forcing her into retirement, and then for something to do she volunteered in Medical Records at Prairie View.
Joan was married to Glenn Alexander Jacobsen, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Sept. 29, 1984. Glenn died on the 23rd of Nov. 1985, two years later she returned to Kansas.
Joan enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always a happy person who loved life and brought fun and laughter to all and was an avid crocheter and knitter. She was still crocheting up until the past two months when her health began to fail rapidly. Joan was an active member of Grace Fellowship Church in Wichita.
