On Sept. 16, 2006, the rain our father always said we needed came and it was his time to move beyond physical life to reap the hay fields elsewhere.

Ben was born in Linton, N.D., on May 30, 1910, the son of Frank and Clara Sikel.

Ben enjoyed the outdoors, raising his cattle, feeding his chickens and cutting his hay. His two pets "Garfield" the cat and "Lucky" the dog gave him many hours of entertainment and loyal companionship.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Bertha, who passed away Nov. 24, 2005, and two sons, Frank and Jay.

Ben is survived by four children, Esther (Al) Ibach, Gerald (Carole) Sikel, Ellen (Thea) Sikel and Charles (Jerri) Sikel; his sister, Agnes Grenz and brother, Frank Sikel. Ben is also survived by 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Throughout his life, Ben was a good husband, father, friend and a hard, honest worker and will be missed by family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Cremation or Funeral Gallery.
