The funeral of Mr. A.B. Corman occurred Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the residence of his son, at 305 North Weber Street. The funeral services at the house were conducted by Rev. A.C. Peck, pastor of the First M.E. church, of which deceased was a member. He had been connected with the Methodist church more than three score years. At the conclusion of these services the body was taken in charge by Post No. 22, Grand Army of the Republic, of which the deceased had been a member several years. Burial took place at Evergreen Cemetery, according to the beautiful and impressive ritual of the Grand Army. At the age of 54, Mr. Corman enlisted in the Fifty fourth Illinois Volunteer Infantry, at Jacksonville, and served over two years in the Union cause, being discharged because of disability. Mr. Corman, at the time of his death, was not alone, as some may have supposed. Himself and Mr. Duncan were working together repairing a wire fence. Mr. Corman told Mr. Duncan he would get in the wagon and turn it around. He then noted the time, remarking; "It is 4 o'clock; time to go home." These were the last words he uttered. Mounting the wagon, he was guiding the horses on the turn, when one of the front wheels dropped into a rut, pitching him out on his head. Mr. Duncan, who was less than fifty yards away, ran to him and found life extinct. Thus passed away one who had long before passed the alloted time of man, yet bade fair to add several years more to his mortal life.
