March 26, 1947 - July 7, 2015

Adron Lee Ikerd, 68, of Kearney, Missouri, and most recently of Pittsburg, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo. He was one of four children born in Polk, Missouri to Adron Jackson "Jack" and Jewell Ikerd.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Adron is survived by his wife Lola of the home; daughters Cheri Howrey and husband Jim of Kearney, Missouri and Julie Magee and husband Jeremy of Plattsmouth, Neb.; grandchildren Michael Whalen, Katie Whalen, Tasha Magee, Nathan Magee, and Josh Magee; brother Harold Ikerd and his wife Roberta of Buffalo, Missouri; sisters Ada Sikes and husband Leroy of Galveston, Texas, and Linda Allred and husband Clifford of Springfield, Missouri; and nieces, nephews, and friends.

Adron was a man of many talents and abilities who lived a full life. He had an entrepreneurial spirit with a thirst for knowledge and teaching it to the next generation.

He served in the U.S. Army. He was a firefighter for the city of Nevada for many years and served as captain of the department. He was a first responder and an EMT. He was a computer programmer, enjoyed working with computers and helping others with theirs.

He learned the skill of woodworking from his father and built many projects over the years, including building his own homes, boats, and bee hives to name a few. His favorite pastime was fishing and he was a professional fishing guide for many years.

Adron was a 32nd Degree Mason. He also served as the President of the Pomme de Terre Bee Keepers Association for several years.

Funeral services for Adron Lee Ikerd will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at Murray Funeral Home in Bolivar with burial to follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 12th at the funeral home.
