Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Pell City, for Talmadge H. Fambrough, 78, who died peacefully at his home in Munford on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004. The Rev. Doug Ford will officiate. Kilgroe Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Fambrough was a native of Ragland. He attended Snead Junior College and the University of Alabama where he received his law degree in 1954. Later, he attended the National College of District Attorneys and graduated in 1978. He began his law practice in Pell City in 1954 and remained a member of the Alabama Bar until his death. He was recently honored by the Alabama State Bar Association for 50 years of service. During his lengthy and outstanding career, Talmadge Fambrough served as assistant district attorney for St. Clair County, St. Clair County solicitor, municipal judge for the town of Moody, municipal judge for the town of Ragland and city prosecutor for the town of Blanchville. He was also a political and civic leader and served as president of the St. Clair County Bar Association, a member of the Board of Directors of Eastside Mental Health, chairman of the St. Clair Alcohol Council, member of the St. Clair County Democratic Executive Committee and president of Fambrough Family Society of America. During World War II, he served as signalman in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater and received the Victory Medal. He was a Mason, Shriner and a member of the First Methodist Church of Pell City.

In the year 2000 at the age of 74, Mr. Fambrough sat for the Texas Bar examination, passed with flying colors and became one of the oldest men ever admitted to the Texas Bar.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Fambrough; children, Mike Fambrough (Dottie), Gadsden, Rosemary Turner (Henry), Milton, Fla., David Parnell, Bakersville, Calif., and Cindy Oliver (Shannon), Oxford; grandchildren, Mary Allison Fambrough, Emily Turner, Andrew Turner, Kaitlyn Parnell and Cheyenne Oliver; his sisters, Kathleen Davis, Margaret Daffron, Florence Griffith (Cliff) and Christine Hawkins (George), all of Ragland, June McEwen (CD), Long Beach, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The St. Clair County Bar Association members will act as Honorary Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Beacon Hospice, 818 Leighton Ave., Suite A, Anniston, AL 36207, Peggy Collins, R.N.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
