Marjorie Ellsworth Anderson of Park Lane, Contoocook, NH, died Feb. 15, 2015. Born in Lowell, Mass., on July 18, 1923, she was the daughter of John Davenport Chandler and Dorothy Evelyn (Slocum) Chandler.

She has a daughter and a granddaughter. She had a sister, Barbara Pullman, and a brother, Robert Gregory Chandler, who died in 1996 and 1998, respectfully.

She lived in Hopkinton NH for 25 years, then moved to Rye, and from there to Rockledge, Fla. She was active in the Woman's Marine Association and was area director in area 1 for two terms, which consists of the New England states and New York. She joined the Florida chapter and became area 3 director for two terms, which included Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

She was discharged from the Marines on Jan. 15, 1946. She worked at the New Hampshire Highway Department and later as dispatcher for the New Hampshire State Police for a number of years. She belonged to the N.H. Antiquarian Society, The Marine Corp. Association, The Golden Group and was a member of the American Legion 81, in Contoocook, for over 35 years.

It has been suggested that those who wish may make memorial gifts to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 75817, Topeka, Kan., 66675; or to Special Olympics, 1133 19th Street, NW, Washington, D.C., 20036; or to The Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 2051, Dover 03820, in memory of Mrs. Anderson.
