He married Beatrice Shook Zuch on 14 April 1927 in Wood County, and they had a son, Vernon, who was killed in a fatal car accident at age 19. Robert was tall, of medium build, with blue eyes and blondish hair. He was a railroad conductor. Robert was a member of the Masons. His first marriage had been to Irena May Hauck on 24 March 1909 in Crawford County. Robert died from a cerebral thrombosis at the age of 92 years 4 months and 7 days.
