Leland Keith Grabill, the son of Samuel and Birdie (Thrailkill) Grabill, was born October 8, 1915 in the Pawnee area [Hamilton Township] of Harrison County, and departed this life June 13, 1982 at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 5 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Birdie, and infant sister Mary Bell, three sisters, Hazel Evans, Margie Lark, and Orgie Hobbs.

On October 8, 1937 [in Princeton, MO], he was united in marriage to Mildred Arkle, daughter of George and Gertie Arkle of Eagleville, MO. To this union four sons: Dorwin, Lynn, Lyle, Steve and two daughters, Anita and Gayla were born. In 1959, he was baptized and joined the United Methodist Church in Eagleville.

He spent his childhood days west of Eagleville, in the Pawnee area. In 1941, he and his wife Mildred, moved to a farm southeast of Eagleville. There, they owned and operated a dairy farm for 31 years, until retiring, due to his health.

He always loved being surrounded by his family and friends. One of his biggest joys was being with his grandchildren. He was always waiting for them with something exciting to do or tell.

He was dedicated to being a farmer as he loved being around the animals and working with soil conservation. He also liked hunting and fishing and going to sales. He was doing one of his favorite hobbies, beekeeping, when he died.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Mildred, four sons: Dorwin of Blythedale, MO; Lynn and Steve of Palestine, Texas; Lyle of Unionville, MO; two daughters: Anita King of Eagleville; and Gayla Seaton of Unionville; three daughters-in-law: Lavaughn, Patti, and Sandi; two son-in-laws: Sam King and Doug Seaton; one granddaughter-in-law, Rhoda Grabill; one brother Garland Grabill and wife Doris of Audubon, Iowa; one sister, Opal Kelley of Ireland; 15 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; devoted parents-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He bade us not a last farewell,
He said goodbye to none.
His loving heart just ceased to beat,
Before we knew it, he was gone.

None know the silent heartache,
Only those who have lost can tell,
The grief we bear in silence,
For the one we loved so well.
Sadly missed by family.
