He was the son of John and Elizabeth (Davis) Chapman.

He was first married to Martha (Perley) Boardman. They wed in Topsfield, MA, on Mar. 1, 1738-9.

2nd married Martha Hunt. They wed in Tewksbury, MA on July 5, 1756.

Mary, Apr. 7, 1759 - Dec. 12, 1839

He died of small pox at age 46y 18d.


John Chapman is the grandfather of John "Johnny Appleseed" Chapman with his first wife Martha.

**Note: The Topsfield Vital Records page 210 says "Chapman, John "died of ye Small Pox", Dec. 7, 1760. While the Tewksbury Vital Records page 198 and his headstone read "Chapman, John died Jan. 23, 1761, a. 46 y. 18 d.". So he may have died in Topsfield and was buried in Tewksbury.
