Harvey was born in Greenfield, Pennsylvania, as the Wood family headed west from Massachusetts. They first settled in New York state and then Pennsylvania before stopping in Ohio.

Inscription

Recently opened in 2015, the Wood mausoleum at Deyo Cemetery was closed in 1915 when Henry Wood was interred. Inside, each metal coffin has an engraved plate with the name of Harvey Wood; his wife, Elizabeth Ray Wood; his son, Henry Wood; and his daughter, Mary E Wood Guilford.
