Gloria Aichele of Yorkton passed away suddenly on December 12, 2009 at her home in Yorkton. She was 61 years of age.

Gloria Doreen Aichele was born on October 15, 1948 at Yorkton, a daughter of Edward and Edna Elsie (Schrader) Aichele. She grew up on the family farm near Fone Hill and attended school in Willowbrook. In her younger years she worked at a Drive-Inn Restaurant in Melville and later at the Yorkton Hotel as a waitress.

Gloria was united in marriage to Steven Spilchen on September 9th, 1967. The couple were blessed with two children, Sheila and Joe (Kevin).

Gloria stayed home to raise her children as well as babysit others. As the children grew older Gloria gained employment at Bonnett's Loaf 'N' Jug for 10 years, later at 7-11 Store for 4 years before accepting a position with Bun's Master Bakery for 15 years. Her last 4 years of employment was with the Bentley Manor Retirement Home. Her health conditions caused her to take early retirement at age 60.

In 1995 Gloria met her long time companion, Wilmer Melnechenko with whom she spent most of her time for the remainder of her years.

She enjoyed fishing and camping and spending a lot of time at the Lake of the Prairies with Wilmer and family and friends. Another very important part of her life was her only grandson Corby with whom she cherished every moment.

She leaves to mourn her passing her long time companion Wilmer Melnechenko; her mother Edna Elsie Aichele; her children Joe (Kevin) Spilchen (Christine Frank), Sheila Shumay (Wayne) and grandchildren Corby, Kristin & Megan Shumay; two brothers Vern and Norm Aichele of Yorkton; three sisters Ivy Fedak of Sheho, Shirley Boulin of Victoria, BC and Beatrice Kopeck of Melville; as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Gloria was predeceased by her father Edward Aichele, Auntie Freda Stebner and nephew Terry Kopeck.

Prayers of Comfort were held on Thursday, Dec 17 at the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home. Funeral Service was held on Friday, Dec 18, 2009 at the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home, Yorkton with Rev. Dan Moeller of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. The organist, Carolee Zorn led in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "Joy To The World". The eulogy was conveyed by Tammy Fedak & Tara Zoski.
