The death of a. rural Hays man, Donald J. Sack, 37, has been ruled an apparent suicide by the District Coroner and the Ellis County Sheriff's Department. Sack, who lived with his 76 year-old mother three miles west of Hays, was found by his mother between 6 and 6:15 p.m. Wednesday hanging by the neck in a farm building. Undersheriff Ernie Werth and Deputy Sheriff Dave Wasinger were immediately summoned to the farm and began an investigation of the death. District Coroner Dr. L. William Hailing was also called to the. scene and after investigation the death was ruled a suicide.

Survivors include his mother; sisters, Mrs. Al (Surelia) Amrein of Phillipsburg and Miss Vera Sack of the home; one brother, William J. of Edwardsville; and a sister, Mrs. John G. (Marian) Dreiling of Victoria.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Church in Hays. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 7 p.m. Thursday until the services at Brock's North Hill Chapel. Parish wake services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday in Brock's.
