William Asbury Courtney 82, father of Mrs. Bert Mathews of Williamsport, passed away sunday at 8:03am in Vermillion Nursing Home, Catlin, Illinois, where he had been a patient 12 days. He had lived the past 16 years with his daughter Mrs. Marguerite Gaddis of RR 2, Hoopeston.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, Hoopeston, with Ref. John Heflin of Ambia Christian Church officiating. Interment will be made in the Floral Cemetery, Hoopeston, Ill. Friends may call at the Hamilton Funeral Home from 4 to 9pm.

He was born in Greenhill, Indiana and married Sally Evelyn Parks in 1910 at Hoopeston. She died in 1947. He was a retired farmer and memaber of Ambia Christian Church.

Surviving are one son, William W. of Talbot Indiana; three daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Gaddis of Hoopeston, Mrs. Mathews of Williamsport, & Mrs. William McDaniel of Boswell, and one sister Mrs. Nora Barcus of Mohall, ND. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
