Clyde S. Andrews, Jr. was the only child of Clyde Sr. and Louise Newbern Andrews. He married Sammie Jo Doss of Beebe on 12 Feb 1949. They had three daughters.

Clyde graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1949. He was a Certified Public Accountant, served on the Marianna School Board, was president of the Chamber of Commerce, and served as mayor of Marianna from 1959 through 1970. He was one of the organizers of the Lee County Development Co. and served as secretary-treasurer. He served as president and a director of a local savings and loan company and also was a member of the board of a local bank. He was president of the Arkansas Municipal League in 1964 and president of the Arkansas Society of CPAs in 1983. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Marianna.
