"William Earl Birk, son of Peter and Minnie Yust Birk, was born April 26, 1892 at Canton, Missouri, and passed away July 4, 1975, in the Scotland County Memorial Nursing Home, at the age of 83 years, two months, and eight days.
"On June 10, 1914, he was united in marriage to Isabelle Rost at Canton, Missouri. To this union one son, Earl, Jr., was born.
"Surviving are his wife, Isabelle; one son, Earl, Jr. and wife, Beverly; one granddaughter, . . ., all of Memphis; and one sister, Florence, of Hannibal, Missouri.
"He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, and one brother, and nieces and nephews.
"He was a member of the Canton Methodist Church of Canton, Missouri; a Veteran of World War I, a member of the V.F.W. and American legion of Memphis.
"Funeral services were held Monday, July 7, 1975, at 10:30 a.m. in the Gerth & Baskett Chapel, Memphis, Missouri, with the Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Moore, Boyde Croley, Adrain Cline Jr. Snodgrass, J.G. Courtney and Roger Poole."
