Sylvanus McKinley, son of Thomas and Rose McGill McKinley, was born on June 5, 1875 in Clark county, and died at the hospital in Madison, where he had been cared for for several months, on Wednesday, Feb. 3. He was 80 years and eight months old. On June 15, 1907, he was married to Lula Hogan. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Fern Carter and Glen McKinley., both of Borden. He was a farmer and did considerable truck gardening. He united with the Borden Church of Christ early in life and attended the services until failing health kept him away. He is survived by his wife, Lula; one daughter, Mrs. Fern Carter; one son, Glen McKinley, one grandson; five brothers, George and Bruce, of Borden, Cornelius, Jesse and Earl, of Bloomington: two sisters, Mrs. Nora Wagner, Borden, and Mrs. Eva Bell, Jeffersonville, and several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held at the Borden Church of Christ on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 1:30 p.m. with Bro. E.G. Collins officiating. Burial was in the Borden cemetery with Littell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
