Cremated Suggested edit: Published in The Temiskaming Speaker, Dec 9, 2013 - Gerald Rodgers died peacefully with his wife Eva at his side at the Teck Pioneer Residence in Kirkland Lake on Nov. 23, 2013 . He was 86 .
Mr. Rodgers married Eva Field of Earlton Sept 18, 1947 and settled down on the family homestead, Savard Twsp near Charlton.
The couple operated the family farm and also operated a school bus in Savard and area until they retired.
Mr. Rodgers was a big man with a big heart and a soft gentle voice. He was always willing to help family , friends and neighbours.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years , Eva; son Melvin (Joanne) of Lethbridge Alberta and Calvin (Linda) of Charlton; grandchildren Pam (Sean), Colin (Lesley), Jolene, Darren (Gisele), Jennifer (Jason) and Joel (Irene); great grandchildren Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Kameron, Kelly, Sabrina, Robert, Ashley and Devin; sisters Blanche Carter, Iris (Harvey) Pratt and Dora (Lawrence) Alred.
He was predeceased by his parents Stewart and Florence (Widdifield); brothers Wilbur (Margaret), Durrell (Dora), Harold (Mildred), Vernon (Doris); sisters Elsie (Mervin), Viola (Ray), Greta (Thomas) and Doris (Lawrence); brothers in law Ken Morrison. Ted Carter and Noel Mondor and sister in law Una Ferrier.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service with take place next summer.
