Funeral services have been set for Waldo D. Barnes, 83, of 748 W. South St., who died Wednesday morning in Omaha.


Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Moser Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Merle Zook of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery.


Mr. Barnes, a retired car salesman, was born on Feb. 2, 1898, in Peoria, Ill. He also lived in Newport. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fremont, the Dodge County WW1 Barracks 493, Izaak Walton League, the American Legion Post, and the Make Today Count group.


On Dec. 4, 1920, he married Lillian Kinney. She survives.


Other survivors include a son, Gerald of Springfield, Mo.; five daughters, Mrs. Jay (Helen) Miller, Poway, Calif., Mrs. Don (Phyllis) Anderson, Willard, Mo., Mrs. Rich (Dorothy) Eastman, Omaha, Mrs. Charles (Onie) Schneider, Fremont, Mrs. Leonard (Carol) Nielsen, Hooper; 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
