MILITARY: South Vietnam, 25th Infantry Division M.P. Co. 1967-68.

COUNTRY MUSIC: 1964, became a student of Traditional Country Music. 1994, "Classic Country with Uncle Del" on Western Colorado radio.

AFTER RETIREMENT: Reconnected with old friends ... the Old Cossacks of Middletown, Indiana, and his fellow soldiers from Vietnam. He loved his family, his friends and NASCAR.

AMONG SURVIVORS: His sister Melinda Chaffin of Montrose, Colorado; his daughter Sarah Mero (Bryan Mero) and his grandchildren Marcus Mero, Justin Mero and Breanna Mero, all of San Ramon, California; and many cousins.

PRECEDED in death by mother Velma May Peterson, father George Delbert Abbott Sr., his stepfather Charles Peterson, his brothers Bennie Emory Abbott and Randy Jay Abbott, and his sister Peggy Diana Abbott.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California, and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Miller Cemetery in Middletown, Indiana.
