Mrs. Harris died on Friday, May 29th at her residence. She was born on June 7, 1917 in Corinth to the late W.H. and Maude Wilson Strickland. Her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ was evident in so many ways to all those who knew and loved her. Her greatest joy came from reading her Bible, spending time with family and friends and serving others. She enjoyed attending First Baptist Church where she was a member. Although her primary job title was homemaker, that role included wearing many hats. She was a babysitter, seamstress, gardener, beautician, chauffer, painter, furniture refinisher and upholsterer, but the greatest was that she was a wonderful cook. It was a real treat to be invited to Mrs. Ethel's table for lunch.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Harris; a grandson, Tyler Knepp; five brothers, Roy, Noel, Grady, Odell, and Gerald Strickland; four sisters, Raye Irwin, Audrey Sanders, Nellie Babb, and Julia Reid; and one son-in-law, Kenneth Oswalt.
Survivors include one son, Robert Harris; three daughters, Ann Oswalt, Mary Lynn Eubanks and husband Jerry, and Julie Bingham and husband Mike; five grandchildren, Craig Oswalt and wife Tina, Marc Oswalt, Brad Coffman and wife Jeannie, John Coffman and wife Rhonda, and Haley Knepp; seven great-grandchildren, Aimee and husband Chris, Jonathan and wife Amanda, Joseph and wife Rachel, Jacob, Margo, Marci, and Joshua; eight great-great-grandchildren, Avery, Jack, Mia, Gavin, Lila, Aidan, Caleb, and Kaitlyn; one brother-in-law, W.D. Harris and wife Charlotte; two sisters-in-law, Helen "Cookie" Strickland and Reed Harris; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
