Pioneer Doctor, Civil War Surgeon, Politician. He served in the Illinois legislature with Lincoln in 1834. On Lincolns senatorial campaign in 1858, he spent the night at Fithians house. On September 21, 1858, Lincoln gave a speech from his second story bedroom to the crowd below. Fithians home in Danville, Illinois is part of the Vermilion County Museum Complex.
