A US citizen, age 32, Mrs. Smillie died at Samaritano Hospital, Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 10th 1918, five days after the birth of her second child.

Mrs. Smillie gave birth to a baby daughter, Fay Anderson Smillie (1918-1986), on 5 October 1918 in Sao Paulo, Brazil . This daughter was registered with the US consulate on 22 October 1919 in Report of the Birth of Children Born to American Parents. Faye Anderson and Wilson Smillie, a physician, were married in Denver, CO on 2 September 1914.

She was survived by her mother, Mrs. Flora Anderson of Denver, CO; two brothers; her husband, Dr. Wilson G. Smillie of Sao Paulo and two infant children. Her mother, Mrs. Anderson, traveled immediately to Brazil to care for the children. Dr. Smillie was with the Rockefeller Foundation.

Infant daughter Faye Anderson Smillie grew up and married Alden Delancey Westover in 1943 in Volusia County, FL . She died in San Diego, CA in 1986.
