Aaron Clay Swafford, 78, of Hauula, a retired professional Navy barber for the 577 USS Sproston, former supervisor at Kam’s Express Trucking Co., former dispatcher at Drive Line Components and a Navy veteran, died in Hauula. He was born in Litton, Tenn.

He is survived by sons Mark “Shane” Soares, and Aaron B., Kyle K. and Quintin T. Swafford; daughter Sharon Chai; stepson Sefo Toki; stepdaughters Eleni Aalona, Makalita Toki, Ana Barrera and Taulagi Maka; brother Jerry Ike Swafford; sisters Mary Jane Swafford Whiteaker and Irene Swafford; 15 grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Services: 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Services: 10:30 a.m. Committal services: 1 p.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl.

Celebrating the Life of Aaron Clay Swafford, 78, of Hauula, Hawaii; who passed away on May 29, 2015. He was born on April 29, 1937 in Litton, Tennessee. His parents were Aaron Burkett Swafford and Amanda Alice Burgess; he was the oldest of six children.

Aaron attended Viglick Elementary and Cumberland High School. He was a supervisor for Kam's Express Trucking, a dispatcher for Drive Line Components, a United States Army Veteran and a retired professional United States Navy barber on the 577 USS Sproston; where he retired on August 1, 1965, after 10 years of service.

He was married to Julia Nabarro and after she passed away, he married Aatu Mata'ahi; who also preceded him in death.

He was a friend to all and enjoyed hunting.

He was preceded in death by parents, Aaron Burkett Swafford and Amanda Alice Burgess Swafford; sisters, June Marie Swafford Wheeler and Nellie Phyllis Swafford Underwood.

He is survived by sons, Mark “Shane” Soares, Aaron (Kathy) Swafford, Kyle K. Swafford and Quintin T. Swafford; daughter, Sharon Chai; sisters, Mary Jane Swafford Whiteaker and Irene Swafford; brother, Jerry Ike Swafford; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces; step-children, Taulagi (Feleti) Maka, Eleni (Isaac) Aalona, Makalita Toki, Ana (Gambino) Barrera and Sefo (Mele) Toki; 18 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation to his evening service will be from 5:30-9:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; services to begin at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation to be held 9:30-10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary ; service to begin at 10:30 a.m., with Committal service to follow 1:00 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific-Punchbowl.
