Mr. Cooke died Dec. 25, 2008.
He was born March 21, 1930, in Arkansas to the late William Charles and Linnie McCauley Cooke. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War, and worked for Lone Star Steel. He lived in Longview prior to moving to Flint 16 years ago.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jane Cooke, Flint; daughters, Glenda Cortese, Scranton, Pa., and Diana King, Tyler; son, Fred Cooke, Gilmer; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
