Dorothy was the daughter of Arthur N. Hirst and Lillian Corinda Horning. She married Ashton B. King.

DOROTHY HIRST KING, 91, of 675 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA, formerly of Stone Harbor, N.J., died Sunday morning, Dec. 26, 2004 at The Glen at Willow Valley following a long illness. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Nelson and Lillian Corinda Horning Hirst and the wife of the late Ashton Byers King. Dorothy lived in Philadelphia area until 1982, having spent many summers with her family in Stone Harbor, N.J. She then moved to Stone Harbor permanently in 1982 until 1992, when she then moved to Lancaster. She was a graduate and received her B.A. degree from Swarthmore College and then graduated from Drexel University with a Masters in Library Science. A library worker, she diligently served the Philadelphia Public Library System, the Germantown Academy Library and also the Ambler Free Library. Following this, she worked for the former insurance brokerage firm of Parker and Co. in Philadelphia as head of the records department. She was an active member of the Garden Club of Stone Harbor and a volunteer with the Wetlands Institute of Stone Harbor. She is survived by her daughters, Corinda King Gill of Hopewell, N.J. and Deborah King, wife of Chet Piotrowski of North Wales, PA; also 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her only sister, Eleanor Hirst Lytle. Private services will be held for the family with interment at the Church of the Messiah Cemetery, Gwynedd, PA. ...
