RUMLEY - Funeral for Melvin L. Brooks, 67, of Rumley will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Briggs-Gamed Funeral Home of Lampasas, with Rev. Raymond Bailey of the School Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Rock Church Cemetery.
Brooks died Monday night at his home.
A lifelong resident of Rumley, Brooks was a retired carpenter and a deacon in the School Creek Baptist Church. He and Cora Lee Bagby were married Sept. 15, 1924 in Brooks Crossing.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bobby Lee Brooks of Copperas Cove and Vernon Brooks of Rumley; a brother, Earl Brooks of Rumley; and nine grandchildren.
