Wiley Jennings Moss was the child of Samuel Charles and Laura Alice Griffin Moss.

He first married Bessie Lorene Blackburn. She was prematurely killed in a car accident that also took the lives of a number of her relatives, in May 1941.

They had 9 children, in Aug 1911 twins were born, one Wiley Truett Moss survived the daughter did not.

Wiley lived in Poteet and my mother and her famiy knew him, he later moved to a place between Rockport and Fulton, Aransas county, Texas. It was there that my grandmother Mary Catherine Murphy Howard married him and I came to know him. He was a great grandfather to me. My mother's father was somewhat estranged from his family and we didn't see much of him, and my father's father had passed before I was born. So Wiley (or Mr. Moss as I called him) became the grandfather figure in my life and he was fantastic. I have many fond memories of helping him with his flower nursery and gathering eggs that he bartered for groceries.
