Brother of famed cosmetics founder Max Factor, he settled in St. Louis during the World's Fair in 1904. At that time he tried to persuade his brother to come and display his make-up and cosmetics at the Fair. While in St. Louis Factor worked running his own dry goods business. He and his family later moved to Oakland, California where he sold real estate.
