Myrna Avonne (Herrig) Voege
November 18, 1930 - June 22, 2015

Myrna Avonne Voege was born November 18, 1930, the daughter of Walter and Florence Herrig. She passed away Monday, June 22, 2015, at her home in Vail, Iowa, at the age of eighty-four.

Myrna was born in Wall Lake, Iowa and received her education in the Vail Community School and graduated with the class of 1948. After completing her education she helped on the family farm. On November 23, 1948, Myrna was united in marriage to Walter Voege at the Presbyterian Church in Vail. The couple made their home on a farm and were blessed with the birth of six children.

Myrna was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her family and taking care of Walter were the most important things in her life. She was an immaculate homemaker, the “Queen of Clean”. She enjoyed baking angel food cake, pumpkin and pecan pies, and cookies. In her leisure time Myrna loved reading novels and magazines, socializing at different homes while playing Bingo and different cards games including Bunko, Euchre and “31". In earlier years while still living on the farm she enjoyed caring for the yard, gardening and fishing and camping at Spirit Lake and in Minnesota with Walter. She also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Sloan and Aksarben and different air force bases in the United States to visit her brother, Delbert.

Myrna is preceded in death by her parents; children, Randy and Marilyn, both in infancy; brothers, Delbert (Louie) Herrig, Earl (Joe) Herrig, Darrel Herrig in infancy; one sister, Maydell. Survivors include: her husband, Walt of Vail; her four children: Cindy Dalton and her husband, Bryan of Vail; Karen Fanisher of Holstead, KS; Pam Sevey and her husband, Ron of Cedar Falls; Darrell Voege and his wife, Lori of Grand Island, NE; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Merlin (Sam) Herrig of Denison; one sister; Ruth Brink of Council Bluffs; many other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Westside in Westside, Iowa with burial in the Westside Cemetery. The Huebner Funeral Home of Denison, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements.
