He was born on December 3, 1925 to James and Grace Potter Adams. Edward was raised in Rosenberg, Texas, where he began working at age thirteen to support his family.
He enlisted into the Army-Air Force immediately upon completing high school in 1943. He was assigned to the 505th Bomb Group, 482nd Squadron (B-29 Right Blister Gunner). Edward was deployed to Tinian Island in 1944, and he was discharged from the military in 1945.
He moved to Houston, Texas and married Mary Ann Richter (deceased). They were together 57 years, and had one son, John Christopher Adams, of Austin, Texas, and one grandson, Geoffrey Adams.
Edward was employed with Southern Pacific Railroad for a number of years before becoming employed by Texaco, Inc. He retired from Texaco, Inc. in 1993 after 36 years, as a Senior Advisor with the Safety Division.
Edward married Mary Richter in 2007 and moved to El Campo, Texas. He was a member (Elder) of First Presbyterian Church in El Campo, and a loyal volunteer/member of the Heritage Center. Edward was a devoted family man, and enjoyed wood working. A service to honor Edward’s life will be held at a later date.
