Sharon K. Bergmeier, 62, of Kearney died Sunday, June 21, 2015, at her home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services with the Rev. Jerry Ness officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 6, 1952, in Mullen to John and Betty K. Reeves. She grew up in Mullen and graduated from Mullen High School. She then attended Kearney State College and graduated with a teaching degree. She married Allen A. Bergmeier and the couple lived in Kearney.

Sharon taught art, home economics and journalism at Litchfield until she retired for health reasons. She did volunteer work at the Museum of Nebraska Art, the Kearney Car Club and Good Samaritan Hospital. Shari had an appreciation for art, classic cars and Nebraska history. She loved spending time with family and friends.

Surviving relatives include her daughter, Renee Payne and husband Michael and granddaughter, Rylee of Amarillo, Texas; son, Brock Bergmeier of Kearney; and brother, Dan Gibson of Kearney.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989; infant daughter, Ashley; and brother, Ed.

Shari was a juvenile diabetic and as an adult had a kidney/pancreas transplant. She also had part of her stomach removed at the time of the transplant due to cancer. She most likely died from complications related to her diabetes.
