Death of Joel Bailey

Joel Bailey, formerly a resident of Canadice, but more recently living near Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday after a lingering illness at the age of 70 years. Mr. Bailey was always noted for his genial disposition and had many friends. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Amos Swarts and one son John, of Buffalo who took the entire care of his father for the past two months. He is also survived by one brother, Albert M., of Springwater, and four sisters, Mrs. Frank Agard of South Livonia, Mrs. Adda Perrin of Hillsdale, Mich., Mrs. Emory Hoppough of Rochester, Mrs. John Westbrook of Naples. The funeral will be held from the home Thursday at 2 p. m.

Death of Joel Bailey

Joel H. Bailey, a former resident of Canadice, died at Dansville Sunday. He was about 70. Mrs. Bailey, one daughter, Mrs. Amos Swarts, and two sons, Frank and John, survive, him. There is a brother, Albert, and three sisters, Mrs. Emory Hoppough of Rochester, Mrs. Frank Agard of South Livonia and Mrs. Perrin of Michigan.

The death of Joel Bailey, a life long resident of the town of Springwater; occurred on Sunday, Oct. 1, 1922. Mr. Bailey was born Oct. 16, 1850. On Sept. 3, 1871 he was united in marriage to Miss Kate Crane. They lived on Baldhill for a number of years, then they bought a farm and moved to this vicinity where they have resided for the last six years. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Sadie Swarts, one son, Frank and one adopted son, John, of Buffalo, one brother, Albert Bailey of Springwater and four sisters, Mrs. Addie Perrin of Michigan, Mrs. Frank Agard of Conesus, Mrs. John Westbrook of Naples, and Mrs. Emory Hoppough of Rochester.

The funeral was held at the house on Wednesday afternoon, with burial in Greenmount cemetery at Springwater. Rev. W. L. Deighton of Springwater officiated.

[NOTATION: Incorrect cemetery listed in Joel's obituary, there is NO Greenmount cemetery in Springwater.]
