Josie Garrett Smith, 89, of Jonesboro, passed away on June 21, 2015.
She loved to read and play Solitaire, was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Smith took great joy in making clothing for her family. She loved her family and her faithful canine companion, Snoopy, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family wants to express a heartfelt thanks to Al Garrett for all of his time and kindness shown to Josie throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe D. Smith, and her parents, Judge Hilliard Garrett, Sr. and Ollie Garrett.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (George) Glass of Florida and Brenda Sambenedetto of Jonesboro; her son, Ralph Edward Dean of Toccoa; her grandchildren, Robin Shockley of Los Angeles; Timothy (Pam) Mitchell of Stockbridge; and Beth (Chad) Sahley of Los Angeles; her great-grandchildren, Jakob Sahley, Jordan Sahley and Mason Mitchell; her sister, Rosa Lee Lewallen of Toccoa; her brother, Jesse Gar rett of Royston; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Camp Memorial Park in Fayetteville, GA. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday evening, June 23, 2015 at the funeral home.
