Mary Lu Smith Hobbs, 86, of Idaho Falls, completed her earthly experience on Sunday, June 21, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her husband and family, following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was also under the care of Encompass Hospice.

Mary Lu was born March 12, 1929, in Preston, Idaho, to George Edward Smith and Vera Fern Smith. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood and school years in Preston, graduating from Preston High School in 1947.

She married Thaylon Rolla Hobbs nearly 68 years ago in Logan, Utah, on October 9, 1947. They moved to Idaho Falls in 1952. Their marriage was solemnized July 11, 1998, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Mary Lu has been a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.

Family and friends have always been welcome in her home and a wonderful home cooked meal or treat were never far away. Mary Lu and Thaylon provided life lessons to all seven of their kids, Craig, Bruce, Brett, Sandra, Michelle, Angela, and Joni. Her posterity also includes 41 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, with several more on the way. Almost any day of the week you can find many of them visiting her home. She is our loving source of comfort, love and the very best chocolate cake with white icing.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in the Primary and Relief Society. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, and crocheting. She loved playing pinochle, watching baseball and Utah Jazz games, reading, family memories and stories, listening to music from the 40s and church hymns.

Thank you for your example and teachings; you have blessed our lives in so many ways.
