Obituary:
Eldon D. Boughan
Longtime Durango resident Eldon D. Boughan died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, from pneumonia. He was 83.

Mr. Boughan was born to Edward and Anna Boughan on Feb. 22, 1931, in Mancos, where he grew up.

After serving his country in the army during the Korean War, he found a lifelong career driving trucks and eventually running the Durango-based trucking company Don Ward Trucking Co., specializing in hauling everything including acid, uranium, cattle and heavy equipment. His company was known for its excellent drivers and service, his family said.

Mr. Boughan also accomplished a lifelong dream of raising and racing racehorses. His passion and eye for champions was easily identified in the numerous photos in the winner's circle with his magnificent horses, his family said.

Mr. Boughan was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Lourae Boughan.

He is survived by his daughters Deann Sanchez of Durango and Kristie Boughan and Stacie Young, both of Grand Junction; son, Adam Boughan, of Grand Junction; and a cousin, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Cremation has occurred. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Greenmount Cemetery.
