HINESVILLE - Marelle Burgess Griffin, 73, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.

Marelle was born in Long County but lived in Hinesville for the past 50 years. Before retiring, she owned and operated Burgess Insurance for 30 years. Marelle also was a member of the United States Bowling Congress and actively bowled for 50 years. She was a member of Elim Baptist Church.

Marelle will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Surviving are two sons, Charles Edward Burgess of Hinesville and James Reginald Burgess (Lisa) of Screven; one stepdaughter, Denise Roberson of Baxley; two grandchildren, Caroline Reid (Matthew) and Austin Burgess of Screven; great-granddaughter on the way, McKinley Reid; one sister, Latrelle Wells (Russell) of Hinesville; one brother, Sherley Middleton (Hester) of Hinesville; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, June 25 at Elim Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elim Baptist Church with the Rev. Sherley Middleton officiating. Burial will follow services at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Tommy Hunt, Greg Middleton, Steve Middleton, Rusty Roberson, Jack Morris and Jeff Mobley. Honorary pallbearers are Senior Friends Bowling, Fort Stewart and the Women's Sunday School Class at Elim Baptist Church.
