John Erwin Braun aka Jack was born in Saint Louis 13 March 1900. Abt the time he was 17 he moved to Chicago with the family and eventually got married to his first Wife. Marion Drake. Together they had one daughter, Jean. Jack worked as a Bricklayer as was his Grandfather, uncles, father and brothers. During the war he moved to Mississippi and Alabama and from what I was told, worked as a bricklayer building barracks and such. One of his jobs included repairing the boilers on the Navy steam ships that came into port. One evening while working in the dark bowels of the ship, a few MPs stopped him and demanded that he told them what he was doing down here. He replied in Uncle Jack fashion, "I'm putting a bomb down here, whaddya think i'm doing"?. He was dragged away and the captain of the ship told the MPs to leave him alone and let him get the job done so they could be on their way. Guess that wouldn't fly nowadays. Jack remarried in 1942 to Gladys Redfern. and a third and final marriage to LuLu Cantwell. He moved too San Francisco and lived out the remainder of his days. Jack owned a 1956 Ford Thunderbird. Had to throw that in. :)
