Mrs. Madge Jones Semmes, age 90, of Wewahitchka, Fla., passed away Friday, June 19, 2015, in Panama City, Fla. Madge was born on Oct. 7, 1924, to Louie and Jessie (Boyett) Jones in New Brockton, Ala. She had lived in Wewahitchka, Fla., since 1955 and had moved here from Hamilton, Ga. Madge was a retired 6th grade school teacher in Wewahitchka for 30 years. She dearly loved sewing, cooking and art. Madge was a member and also the pianist for the First Baptist Church in Wewahitchka, Fla., for 45 years. She was a member of the GFWC Wewahitchka Women's Club for 50 years. She started the Outside Looking In Program working with the Gulf County Corrections in hopes of steering children in the right direction in life. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh H. Semmes.

She is survived by three sons: Tom Semmes and wife Dianne, of Wewahitchka, Fla., Glenn Semmes of Wewahitchka, Fla., and John Semmes of Newport News, Va.; four grandchildren: Allison Patterson and husband James, of Orange Park, Fla., Amy Semmes, of Centerville, Va., Shane Semmes, of Wewahitchka, Fla., and Jeffery Semmes of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and three great-grandchildren: Zachary, Jacob and Nick Irby all of Orange Park, Fla.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 22, 2015 at 5 p.m. (CDT) at the First Baptist Church in Wewahitchka, Fla., with the Reverend Derrick Gerber officiating. Interment will follow in Roberts Cemetery in Honeyville, Fla. The family will receive friends Monday, June 22, 2015, from 4 p.m. (CDT) until service time at 5 p.m. (CDT) at the First Baptist Church in Wewahitchka, Fla. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, Fla.
