Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Sue Fortenberry, 75, will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from the chapel of Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home. The Reverend Danny Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in the Crystal Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Fortenberry passed away at her residence in Tylertown on Friday, June 19, 2015. She was born March 20, 1940 in Walthall County, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Dewitt Webster "D.W." and Lena McKenzie Boyd. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by sisters Mildred Yarborough and Wilda May May; and brothers John, Wilkie, James, Daniel, Truly, Morgan, and Frank Boyd.
She was a member of the Crystal Springs Baptist Church. She was a retired school teacher and school principal from the Bogalusa, Louisiana Schools and a member of the Louisiana Retired Teachers’ Association. She had also been the Librarian at the Tylertown Primary School. Mrs. Fortenberry was a good cook and hostess who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Fortenberry is survived by her husband of 59 years, John Fortenberry; one son Damon Scott (Sundi) Fortenberry; one daughter Jennifer (Jim) Fortenberry; one sister Evelyn Smith; grandchildren Sydney and Ava Fortenberry; step-grandchild Charlotte Fortenberry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Terry Boyd, Mike Boyd, Bruce Boyd, Charles Webster Boyd, Greg Boyd, and P J Boyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Drew Rayborn, Danny Ray Boyd, and Clay Barron.
Visitation will be at Hartman Hughes Funeral Home on Saturday, June 20 from 11 A.M. until service time there at 1:00 P.M.
