Columbus, Indiana
1900
A bounty deed from the Department of the Interior of United States government to George, William and Smith Goshorn and all other heirs of Leonard Goshorn, a private in an Ohio regiment and later a captain in the War of 1812, which has been lost for over forty years, has just been found.
The deed was issued to June 9, 1857, and deeds over to the above named persons 160 acres of government land. The transfer is made to the heirs of a soldier in the war of 1812, under an act of Congress of 1855.
On the back of the deed is the abstract of transfers made after the original deed was given. The old document is indeed uncommon at the present time, and is highly prized by A.W. Goshorn of this city, its present owner.
