This community was shocked Sunday afternoon at learning of the death of D.O. Brainard, one of our most worthy citizens. Mr. Brainard had been enjoying unusually good health and had been in town Saturday. Monday morning, C. V Brainard started with the remains of Mr. Brainard for Buda, Illinois for interment. Mr. Brainard went to Illinois in 1839. He leaves two sons and other relatives. His wife died four years ago. He was an excellent citizen and though a resident of Artesia but for a short time, was respected by all who knew him.
