Willis was born January 21, 1928, in Hamilton, Michigan, to Gerrit and Sena (Klein) Klingenberg. Willis began his lifelong career in farming and married Norma Hop July 27, 1948. Willis also worked for General Electric for 32 years. Willis and Norma raised their family in Hamilton and were members of Hamilton Christian Reformed Church. They enjoyed spending their summers at Sandy Pines for the past 27 years. Willis was preceded in death by daughter Diane Bennett in 2012, his sister Helene Wolters, step-grandson Brian Myaard, and in-laws: Bill Wolters, Ernest Ryzenga, Edgar Hop.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Norma, children: Gary Sr. and Ginny Klingenberg, Randal and Jane Klingenberg, Rhonda and Eric Tomkins; son-in-law W. Donald and Sandy Bennett, 9 grandchildren: Heather Shupe, Gary Klingenberg Jr., James Klingenberg, Mitchell Klingenberg, Sadie Klingenberg, Elliott Klingenberg, Kendal Klingenberg, Derek Haverdink, Drew Tomkins; 3 step-grandchildren: Mark Myaard, Stacey Faraci, Derek Bennett; 7 great-grandchildren, brother Ray and Molly Klingenberg, in-laws: Marilyn Ryzenga, Jay and Shirley Hop, Wayne and Bev Hop, Ruth and Ron Hulst, Glenn and Kathy Hop, many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor the faith and life of Willis Klingenberg will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 22, 2015, at Hamilton Christian Reformed Church, 3596 47th Street, Hamilton. Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Sunday, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Back to God Hour and Hospice of Holland.
