Robert (Bob) McCaig Robert (Bob) McCaig passed away on May 9th, 2015 at the age of 88 at his home in Koloa, Hawaii. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on November 4th, 1926. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Emily Kendall McCaig. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Lee Reeves McCaig and his son, Daniel Allen McCaig. Bob is survived by his daughter, Kerry McCaig and her husband, Robert Forrest, of Parker, Colorado. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Bonnie Lofstedt and her husband, Curt Lofstedt; Katherine Kosturos and her husband, Thomas; Kendall Langan; and Bernard Langan. In addition, he is survived by eight step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. Bob served in the US Air Force from 1944-51 as both a private and later as a 2nd Lieutenant in WWII and the Korean Conflict. A graduate of the University of Arizona with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1950, he went on to manage and grow the family plumbing and HVAC company business until retiring to Kauai in 1981. While in Topeka, he owned the Washburn View Shopping Center and was on the Board of Directors of the Fairlawn Plaza State Bank. He served as a Trustee to Washburn University and was President of Shawnee Country Club. He was proud of being an Eagle Scout and served as a Master Scout leader for three years. He was a member of the Alpha Delta Fraternity. He enjoyed flying for the Hawaii Civil Air Patrol. He was also an avid golfer and Founding Member of the Kiahuna Golf Club. He belonged to the Lihue United Church. A celebration of Bob s life will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Kauai Hospice, 4457 Pahee St, Lihue, HI 96766, an organization that provided care and support to Bob and his family in his final weeks.
