Mr. Valdimar (Valdi) Johnson passed away peacefully on July 20, 1995 at the Yorkton Uaion Hospital following a brief illness. He was 88 years of age. Valdi was born January 16, 1907 in the Thingvalla district, north east of Churchbridge, the son of Sigurdur and Paulina Johnson. He grew up on the family farm and received his education at the Thingvalla and Churchbridge schools. On June 15, 1932 Valdi was united in marriage to Dyrfinna (Finnie) Hinrickson. The couple farmed in the Thingvalla District and raised four children, Ronnie, Thor, Lynne and Joanne. Valdi and Finnie lived on the farm until 1965 and then retired in Churchbridge. During his retirement Valdi worked at North American Lumber, Co-op Dairy and other various carpentry jobs. Predeceased by his first wife, Valdi was later united in marriage to Eleanor Easy (nee: Daum) gaining two stepsons, Chuck and Paul Easy. Valdi will be remembered by his family and friends for his sense of humour, caring heart and his willingness to help others. He will be fondly remembered by all those who touched and shared his life. Valdi leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his loving wife, Eleanor, three sons Ron (Elin) of Churchbridge, Thor (Barb) of Indian Head, Sask, Lynne (Christine) of Churchbridge, and one daughter Joanne (Gerry) of Bredenbury, Sesk; stepson, Chuck (Donna) of Red Deer, Alta; fifteen grandchildren and several great- grandchildren. Valdi was predeceased by his first wife Dyrfinna, a stepson, Paul Easy; brothers, William, Palmi, Eggert, Martin, Mundi, Sam, John and Freeman and three sisters, Helga, Ranke and Martha. Services Directed By Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel, Yorkton.
