Edward George Cihak was born February 22, 1916 on a farm near Dante, SD, the son of Albert and Mary (Sedlacek) Cihak.
He died Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Ed attained the age of 98 years, five months and six days. Ed attended rural school in the Dante area. He was united in marriage to Lucille Pekas on November 22, 1937. Four children were blessed to their union. Together they farmed near Dante. In 1975, they moved to Dante and later to Wagner. Ed became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in August of 2006. Ed enjoyed many years of farming. He loved to hunt, fish and play cards. He enjoyed watching baseball and football, especially when it involved his son Marvin. Upon retirement he enjoyed gardening and visiting family and friends. Ed was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, was an Honorary member of Knights of Columbus and former Dante Lake Club member.
Thankful for sharing his life are his wife of 76 years, Lucille; two daughters, Marlene (Russel) Stone of Wagner and their children: Greg (Cheryl) Stone, Rick (Pam) Stone, Jackie (Hal) Murphy, Tim (Tammy) Stone; Virginia (Soukup) Sadler of San Leon, TX and her children: Jeff (Tami) Soukup, Natalie (Steve) Hughes, Julie Soukup and Charles (Christina) Soukup; daughter-in-law, Betty Cihak of Lake Norden and her children: Patricia Cihak, Kenner Cihak and Kurtis (Aimee) Cihak; 23 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his daughter Judy; son Marvin; grandson Paul Cihak; parents; sister Adeline (George) Rokusek; two brothers: Adolph (Helen) Cihak and Albert (Dorothy) Cihak; brother-in-law Joe (Dorothy) Pekas; infant brother Frank and infant sister Helen.
