Douglas Lavelle "D.L." Jackson was one of the DPD motorcycle escorts for President John F. Kennedy's Dallas motorcade on 11/22/63. In fact, Jackson was one of the four escorts that were adjacent to JFK's limo: James Chaney (right front) & Jackson (right rear), closest to JFK, and Bobby Hargis (left front) & B.J. Martin (left rear) closest to Jackie.

The night before the motorcade the Secret service advance agent, Winston Lawson, met with the DPD officials to discuss the motorcade set up. Lawson refused to allow the usual 8 motorcycles around the limo as in all previous motorcades, and instead insisted there be only 4 - two on each side. He further ordered that none of them were to ride forward of the rear bumper of the limo, in direct contradiction to all previous motorcades and secret service rules.

Chaney said that Jackson kept detailed notes of his observations of the assassination, but for some reason Jackson was never interviewed by the DPD, the FBI, the Warren Commission or the HSCA, and sadly he had died by the time of the ARRB in the 90s.
